Coming soon, history and process for the development and maintenance of Runbooks and a summary of Runbook UML presented at OASIS as the basis for automation end-to-end continuous compliance monitoring. This work is completed entirely by Robin Basham and presented to the OASIS DCML Applications and Services TC in 2004 and has been used as the basis in design for numerous products. This article breaks it down so anyone can build a Runbook portal on any platform.
The model implemented uses Access as a front end and SharePoint SQL as the backend. Obviously, any enterprise will require more robust and secure systems but for people getting started this article will show you how to start small and build out.
Let's begin with OASIS.
RunBook Process UML - Note that after participating in a TC where I designed and shared this, SAP, who attended, built it. I learned something about IP, which is that when you participate in an OPEN-Source committee your ideas can be used by anyone without legal recourse. Since my ideas were not copyrighted at the time that I shared them there was nothing I could do. Lesson learned.
Dates, however, do not lie. In spite of this being 100% my own work, I was never given any credit or any acknowledgment. Yep, still angry.
