EU Officials Reach Agreement on Text of New Privacy Law

The Real NewsSOPACARB, the Environment

SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act, has my full attention.  Uncomfortable with my mixture of strong positive and negative emotions, it's clearly a complicated and political problem and a major factor that's sent me barreling back to earning new shingles in virtualization during the last quarter of 2011.  Networking and IT degrees circa 2002 just didn't tell me what I need to know. (Hi, I'm Robin, and I am a shingle-a-holic.)

If I've been quiet on the SOPA matter, consider this.  How do I express an opinion over the technology controls in major emerging industries when the technology behind it is not perfectly clear?

Stop On-Line Piracy Act and the Protect IP Act of 2011, rest upon understanding the use of virtual and Big Data systems.  Worse, isn't SOPA diametrically opposed to the greatest business invention of all time, the Cloud? (No, it wasn't supposed to be anyway.)

The Personal News: Dream for 2011, "I will start a corporation, brand the name, reach wide markets, deploy a controlled operations and financial approach and pay taxes on a profit in the space of 90 days."

To my own surprise, the dream I set for 2011 is exactly what happened.  Starting in October, EnterpriseGRC Solutions embarked on a business model dependent upon GoDaddy hosting, QuickBook On-Line, Bank of America Business Services, and LegalZoom incorporation services.  What once took me 15 months happened in the space of nine short weeks.  Using Joomla, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, LegalZoom and PRWeb, an unknown business achieved rank in the top 50K visited websites, and paid taxes on a profit, before the close of the year.

Back To Complicated News: Does SOPA take all that back?

One of EnterpriseGRC Solutions' consortium advisers is David Barnett, who speaks consistently against SOPA, and he is so Right.  David leads the LinkedIn Enterprise Security Architect group.  If you've read this far, you should join him.
